First of all, I have a confession to make. I was there to see the Goo Goo Dolls. As a Buffalonian and serious Gooholic, I make it my business to attend as many of their shows as possible. Lucky for me I caught this one, because Gavin was fantastic. His affable manner and down-home vibe translate well in a smaller venue like the State Fair. His sound was clear and true, and you could really hear every lyric. He got the crowd into every tune, and I have to say I liked each one better than the next. He saved his biggest hits ("I Don't Wanna Be", "In Love With a Girl" and "Chariot") for the end, and did some great versions of them- close enough to the originals for a novice fan like me, but varied enough to show off his stage presence and serious musical ability. The best thing about this show, though, was how GDG appreciated the fans. He came down off the stage to sing and dance, he chatted with people in the audience, he responded to everything that people yelled (which was pretty much along the lines of "We love you, Gavin!!!") and he seemed to really appreciate that people were getting into his music. So in summary, I was there to see the Goos, but Gavin made me a fan.

I will be at a show the night before and would LOVE to stay one more day to catch this!!!
