I've been to 5 different GDG tours, but I think I enjoyed this one the most. The theater was packed, with some annoying "fans" mixed in, who don't know when to shut up and just listen. There wasn't much to the "show" part of it. Just pure, stripped down music and vocals. He paused in between most songs and talked about them, and why he did certain things when writing them, with a little Gavin humor mixed in, which was great. Someone had a birthday in the crowd, so he sang a really fun little birthday song. The new album is going to be incredible. 'Stay' 'Mountains to move' and a few others sounded really good. He also reworked the arrangement of some classics, that you can't hear anywhere else. One of my favorites of the night was 'I have you to thank'. He added some psychodelic bass and some really cool beats mixed in that made it an awesome version. The electric guitarist was awesome. He had a few solos that made my jaw drop. I was one of the lucky first to hear this concert, and I left with a whole different appreciation for Gavin's talent. He won't be able to do this type of intimate show for much longer. He's becoming too popular, so you better catch it while you can. You won't be dissapointed. Go see this show!

P.S. If you're reading this, you're die-hard-Gavin, enough for me to want you to know, that Gavin DOES do an encore. I repeat, he DOES do an encore. After he said he was done for the night, he said good-bye, shook some hands and left the stage. The house lights came up, the guitars were taken off the stage, and music started playing, so everyone started to leave. A few minutes later, when most the people had left, he came back out, and played two more songs, acoustic. The first was one off the new album, and the last song of the night was 'More than anyone'. No better song to end the night with.

Yup - the guy strayed - he's already headed to Seattle. Bummer. Said he had to cut it short to get up there. The show was excellent - loved the new songs (already pre-ordered album on iTunes), the old songs, the jammin', the banter - all there, just not enough of any of it. Though geez, guess he played 2 hours. Went by so fast. Don't know how long he usually plays. This was my first. Was hoping to hear "we belong together" (flove that song), amongst other things. Obviously one show is not enough - guess I should be driving to Seattle myself...

And loved the birthday song.
