The first time I heard Gavin was four years ago. I was a freshman in college and spent much of my time watching music videos on Yahoo. Gavin's music video for "Follow Through" came on. I had never heard of him. Right away I loved his voice. It was so full of passion, soul, and emotion. It had this raw quality that I absolutely loved. The lyrics of "Follow Through" were so unique and beautiful and they stirred something within me. I immediately went out and bought his CD, which is very unlike me. I can be very picky about what music I like and don't like and until Gavin, I have NEVER went out and bought a CD based on one song from an artist I knew nothing about. I didn't regret it! Every song on Chariot was wonderful and relatable. I loved every track, which is another thing that rarely happens. I told all of my friends about Gavin and played them songs and they fell in love with his music too. After I bought Chariot, Gavin came out with Stripped so I went and bought Chariot again because Stripped came with it. I live in a small town and Gavin doesn't get near here often but I have seen him in concert twice. The first time I saw him it was free and I was right up against the stage. It was unbelievable. I couldn't believe I didn't have to pay for it (another reason I love Gavin--free concerts and cheap tickets for those of us who can't afford more). The second time I saw him he was the opening musician for the Allman Brothers. I met him after the concert and he was so gracious and sweet. I can't wait for his new CD to come out!! There are many reasons why I am a fan of Gavin (reasons which I discussed above) but when it comes down to it, Gavin and his music just have something irresistible that draws you in and can't really be put accurately into words (except for maybe by Gavin).
