Incredible Show

This was my first night to see Gavin Degraw live, and I must say, he did not disappoint.
Now, I've seen Collective Soul a number of times. I've been a big fan of their music, so I was interested to see the dichotomy between the two artists and sets of fans.

I loved the transition from Ray Charles' "I got a Woman" into "Chariot." That was a highlight of the night. "I'm in love with a girl" ended up being much more energetic than radio gives that song credit for.

Gavin's electric guitarist was really on his game this night. His solo jobs in a few songs were mind boggling.

A quick note, I did get on the Collective Soul site to see what they were saying about the show.
Oddly enough, they said Gavin was flat and that Collective Soul brought the house down.

Two things I want to say about that.
First of all, Mr. Degraw was absolutely outstanding.
Second of all, I wish the clear tension between two sets of fans was not as pronounced. Yes, there is tension. After Gavin played, a number of younger kids started fleeing, while the 30-something crowd started making their way to the stage.

Now, there is nothing wrong with having preference.
Been when two groups are blinded by one artists brilliance just because the commitment to the other, thats silly.

Anyway.
Just wanted to share my thoughts.
I'm considering going to the show in Tulsa if anyone would like to go...
Have a great day!
