I've been a huge fan of Gavin since I first heard "I Don't Want To Be" on the radio and saw the music video within the same week. I even stated watching "One Tree Hill" just to hear that song! Before I bought "Chariot" I used to listen to Gavin on AOL music and watch the music videos on there. I was already hooked but hearing how soulful "Chariot" sounded just reeled me in more. But I think I officially became a fan when I listened to his cover of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy". First of all, his voice was so good it was one of those times where it sent shivers down your spine and to me that's how you know someone is a good singer/musician. And also, I figured if he can do justice to John Lennon and is such a soulful white guy, he's got me for sure. Plus I love the mixture of all of his musical influences from The Beatles to Sam Cooke. Musically and vocally he is so creative and I can't believe that he is able to make each song sound unique and that is one of my favorite things about his music. "Chariot" is one the very few albums I can listen to all the way through without my "music add" kicking. And I can never pick a favorite song but I guess I have a top 5: "Meaning", "More Than Anyone", "Control", "Glass", and "Cop Stop".
And as far as favorite lyrics go, a top 3...
from "I Don't Want To Be": "I don't have to be anyone other than a birth of two souls in one
Part of where I'm going, is knowing where I'm coming from"
from "Realitive": "if you pick The threads in your closet The cash in your wallet The color of the skin in your blood and how you got it Compared to yourself and someone else, you care Everything is relative"
from "Glass":cause deep down I know that he's glass too but it really doesn't matter until it's happening to you everybody breaks"
